TNT Express is the winner of the most prestigious awards in the field of operational research: Franz Edelman Award 2012. The Edelman Award, awarded by INFORMS, is considered as the highest honor in the field of operations research, discipline applying advanced analytical methods, such as business modeling, which helps making the right decision.

Global Optimization (GO) award covers several aspects of the business of TNT, including urban planning, optimal routing Truck, fleet management and scheduling of employees. TNT Express has already implemented more than 100 projects worldwide, creating a saving of 60 000 000 km mileage, 283 million kg emissions CO2 and € 207 million for four years.

To meet the demand for qualified operational management, TNT has partnered with ORTEC and Tilburd University / TiasNimbas Business School (Netherlands), to create the GO Academy, a two-year program management development to optimize the transport network.
Since 2008, training has reached more than 200 employees in TNT, which also helps World Food Programme in the optimization of its distribution system.
